FlexMount Hardware: more stainless steel Pieces & Parts for Building Your Percussion Setups

In this image above you can see that there is a substantial cymbal stand base at the bottom of all this hardware, and you can see that the FlexMount TBase has been inserted into that cymbal stand base. While you can see a little more about what can be done with FlexMount hardware in this image, you can’t really see just the TBase, so here’s a good picture of a TBases by itself, just below. The two black socket head cap screws are the two primary fasteners for attaching any of the FlexMount FM-Bars, (FM-4Bar, FM-6Bar, FM-10Bar, or FM-12Bar.
This TBase is one of the fundamental building blocks in Ron’s FlexMount ‘erector-set-for-percussionists’ hardware. This Stainless Steel TBase has a 3/4″ diameter ‘down-tube’, and will fit directly into many of the more substantial cymbal stand bases made today by the best drum company manufacturers. If you want to begin building a FlexMount setup, this is where you start: with a TBase, and a good, substantial cymbal stand base. From there, you can build up and out and across in many creative ways to help you get your percussion instruments exactly where you want and need them for your personal performance needs, your live concerts, and especially for your recording sessions.

Important to know: Ron’s FlexMount hardware can allow you to build many different, creative setups as you learn to use the various FlexMount components. Being fundamentally built from stainless steel, FlexMount Hardware has exceptional and unusual strength, and it will hold it’s beautiful finish/patina throughout your career with normal use and basic common-sense care. There is no ‘plating’ to wear and chip after years of use. The highly polished natural patina of Stainless Steel will travel your career with you very well.

FlexMount Stainless Steel Bars, or the ‘FM-Bars’

The basic building blocks for FlexMount assemblies: the FM-12Bar, (longest), the FM-10Bar, the FM-6Bar, and the FM-4Bar, all pictured above. All of these bars will attach the the FlexMount T-Base, anywhere along their individual lengths. This makes them great, flexible tools for building individual setups needed by individual performers for their own specific performance requirements.
You can see the common bolt pattern alignments that are identical along the full length each bar, regardless of any of the bar individual lengths.

FlexMount Socket Head Cap Screws for tremendous strength and holding torque

All FlexMount hardware uses these fine-thread socket head cap screws, providing remarkable strength to hold FlexMount setups securely and reliably. Note, all the through-holes accept 3/8″ diameter rods, (9.5mm), to mount a wide variety of percussion instruments.

FlexMount FM-4Bar

FlexMount FM-4Bar, at approximately 7 3/4″ long, (196 mm). The FM-4Bar bar will mount onto the FlexMount FM-TBase with two socket head cap screws, and can be added to any of the other FM-Bars quickly and easily as the bolt patterns are identical on all FM-Bars. All FlexMount hole-patterns are common and completely interchangeable.

FlexMount FM-6Bar

FlexMount FM-6 Bar, at approximately 12 1/4″ long, (311 mm). The FM-6Bar bar will mount onto the FlexMount FM-TBase with two socket head cap screws. The FM-6-Bar can be attached to the FM-TBase anywhere along the FM-6 Bar’s entire length, as all FlexMount hole-patterns are common and completely interchangeable.
The FM-6Bar is one of the most-chosen utility add-on bars for FlexMount setups as it provides many ways to integrate with the other bars to create unique tiers of mounting options.

FlexMount FM-10Bar

FlexMount FM-10Bar, at approximately 21 1/4″ long, (539 mm), is the second-longest of the single stainless steel FM-10Bars. The FM-10Bar bar will mount onto the FlexMount FM-TBase with two socket head cap screws. The FM-10Bar can be attached to the FM-TBase anywhere along the FM-10Bar’s entire length, as all FlexMount hole-patterns are common and completely interchangeable.

FlexMount FM-12Bar

FlexMount FM-12Bar, at approximately 25 3/4″ long, (654 mm), is the longest of the single stainless steel FM-12Bars. The FM-12Bar bar will mount onto the FlexMount FM-TBase with two socket head cap screws. The FM-12Bar can be attached to the FM-TBase anywhere along the FM-12Bar’s entire length, as all FlexMount hole-patterns are common and completely interchangeable. For performers wanting to build a FlexMount system for their performance and recording work, the FM-12Bar is one of the most relied upon beginning pieces of hardware. To make use of the FM-12Bar, pair it with one FM-TBase and a cymbal stand capable of accepting a 3/4″ diameter down-tube of the FM-TBase.

Combining the strength of the stainless steel bars and knuckles with extension rods & pins, and the formidable holding torque of the hex-head steel cap screws, these combinations can provide new freedoms in percussion performance setups.

Unlike more conventional hardware, the setup performer/designer needs to always be aware of the need for balanced setups with FlexMount hardware.
FlexMount hardware components allows performers to create potentially far-reaching and sometimes cantilevered arrangements where awareness and well thought-through balanced setups becomes far more important.

Always build your FlexMount setups one-addition-at-a-time, checking each addition for purpose and stability before continuing to add more components.
Balance, balance, balance.

If your FlexMount setups do become larger and more far reaching, please keep reading here:
